I was born in a village in Tarragona, Catalonia, in 1989, and from a young age, photography and I almost met out of necessity. My first steps in this world began by photographing interiors for a small family business by the Mediterranean. When developing those photographs, I discovered something more than simple images of houses; I found how people reflected themselves in their closest surroundings, revealing intimate aspects of their lives and personalities.
Photography evolved from being a job to a passion that later would become my way of life. During a transcendental phase of change and deep internal discomfort, photography became the means I used to find myself in the world. I traveled for over a year and a half to countries like Turkey, Norway, or Kenya, making documentaries through photography and video for companies, individuals, and NGOs.
For a year, I worked on a social project as a facilitator and visual pedagogue with photography titled: "From the Neighborhood to the Mud." It is a participatory photography and visual pedagogy project where a group of people from the same neighborhood express and reflect through images with the aim of improving personal and interpersonal relationships. It is undoubtedly the most real and important project I have undertaken to date, where I have been able to learn the true potential of the image in society.
From that moment until today, photography has become a daily decision. I wake up in the morning thinking that my life could not be otherwise. I have always liked philosophy, and thanks to my therapeutic experience with photography, I graduated twice in postgraduate studies in Visual and Therapeutic Pedagogy from the University of Barcelona. This confirmed the countless uses and benefits that photography and its applications have for personal development.
The multitude of techniques learned, some through experience and the practice of a more intuitive and documentary photography with a solid foundation on the power that the image and the visual have in our lives, build the awareness and the way I press the shutter today.
Thanks to photography, I also met my life partner, Marta, a medical doctor and visual artist, with whom I am fortunate to wake up every morning. With her, we feed each other in this world of shared passions, and I learn a little more about her sensitive way of interpreting life every day. A few months ago, I moved to Lisbon to start living with her, and we decided to take the courage to undertake Zenko Studio, a studio where we want to bring our experience with photography, which is none other than life itself.
