We are Marta and Xavi, the couple behind Zenko.
We met through photography at the University of Barcelona, during a Master’s degree in Visual Pedagogy and Therapeutic Image. Since then, walking together — in life and in our projects — has felt completely natural.
Marta is the earth.
She is drawn to colour, conceptual art and thoughtful photography. She is the mind behind the editorial image, with an almost supernatural ability to notice details. Her technique is the result of a deep love for art and an insatiable dedication to learning. She holds a degree in Medicine, and her hunger for knowledge has no limits. A natural talent that grows with every experience and every photograph. She thinks before and after each frame, but never during.
Xavi is the sky, the clouds, surrealism and abstraction, the Black and White,
He works through documentary photography and film. He doesn’t prepare — he observes and acts. He has been the facilitator and lead of the social photography project From the Neighbourhood to the Clay in Vilanova i la Geltrú, worked as a documentary photographer for the Barcelona City Council for four years, and has created documentaries in collaboration with Agua NGO in Kenya, Turkey and Norway. He recently published a photobook about Japanese culture, born from his time living within the Tokyo–Kyoto–Kanazawa triangle, titled Shindō (震度).
